Job summary

Cleveland Clinic Main Campus seeks a Perioperative Educational Program Coordinator to plan, implement and evaluate orientation and education activities for clinical and support caregivers. You will work with the Professional Development Manager to develop programs, coordinate unit preceptors, and collaborate with local colleges to advance perioperative education.

There are opportunities for certifications and simulation fellowships.

Qualifications

  • BSN required and RN licensure in state; BLS cert through AHA/Red Cross; ACLS cert within six months of hire; 2 years perioperative experience in circulating/OR setting; knowledge of adult learning theory and teaching methods; proficiency with clinical systems (Epic/Optime) and MS Office.

Responsibilities

As a Perioperative Educational Program Coordinator, you will work in conjunction with the Professional Development Manager to plan, implement and evaluate departmental orientation and education activities for clinical and support caregivers. This position is a great way to share your knowledge and skills with other caregivers while creating opportunities for others to learn and grow. There are multiple options for professional development in this role, such as certifications, advanced education, distinguished educator certificate and simulation fellowships.

A caregiver in this position works days from 7:00AM - 4:00PM.

A caregiver who excels in this role will:

  • Plan and implement orientation for new hires.
  • Assist education caregivers in assigning unit preceptors.
  • Assist in interviewing new caregivers.
  • Complete probationary performance evaluations for new hires and participate in annual evaluations with unit managers.
  • Coordinate continuing education and training programs and staff development within the department.
  • Assist in coordinating programs with local colleges and universities.
  • Perform patient care up to 20% of work time in area of clinical expertise in order to demonstrate clinical competence and be able to teach others.
  • Actively assist the management team with ensuring caregiver compliance with regulatory requirements. This may include training and recertification for CPR, ACLS, annual education on fire safety, diversity, code management, HIPPAA and coordination of TB testing.

Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:

  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN)
  • Current state licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN)
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross
  • If performing moderate/procedural sedation, must have Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross within six months of hire
  • Two years of perioperative experience, specifically in circulating/OR setting
  • Demonstrated expertise in a clinical specialty with current patient care competence
  • Knowledge of adult learning theory, motivational strategies, change theory, group process skills, leadership strategies and teaching
  • Demonstrated computer skills utilizing clinical systems (Epic/Optime) and Microsoft applications (Excel, Word and PowerPoint)

Preferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:

  • Master's Degree
Physical Requirements:
  • Requires corrected vision and hearing to normal range.
  • Requires working under stressful conditions of working irregular hours.
  • Requires some exposure to communicable diseases or bodily fluids.
Personal Protective Equipment:
  • Follows standard precautions using personal protective equipment as required.
Pay Range

Minimum Annual Salary: $69,600.00

Maximum Annual Salary: $106,132.50
