Job summary

The University of California, Los Angeles Health Department of Anesthesiology and Perioperative Medicine seeks a Database Administrator and SQL Developer to design, develop, and maintain the Perioperative Data Warehouse (PDW), a SQL-based data warehouse supporting administrative, quality improvement, research, and predictive analytics from UCLA Health's Epic platform.

You will ensure data security and governance, collaborate with faculty and operational leaders, and provide reusable code and ETL

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or equivalent combination of education and experience
• 2+ years programming in SQL and related tools and libraries
• Experience with BI tools (SSRS/SSAS/SSIS, Tableau) and relational databases
• Ability to develop reusable and modular code for multiple teams
• Proficient in SSIS package design, deployment, and parameterization
• Experience in programming languages and tools including C#, Python, T-SQL, Reporting Services, XML, and R
• Strong SQL Server, T-SQL, Reporting Services, and SharePoint skills
• Excellent written and oral communication; ability to train users and write manuals
• Ability to work independently and meet deadlines
• Experience with ETL processes and data warehouse concepts
• Strong negotiation and confidentiality skills

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain the department's SQL-based data warehouse and related documentation
• Ensure data security, governance, and system integrity
• Collaborate with faculty, researchers, and operational leaders on data projects
• Support data integration efforts for multi-center research databases
• Partner with bioinformatics teams to prioritize data requests
• Represent the department in cross-functional discussions on data warehousing
• Provide reusable code and batch processing solutions to support analytics
• Assist with ETL clients and data loading into the warehouse
