Job summary

MLK Community Healthcare in Los Angeles, CA seeks a Circulating Staff Nurse (RN) to deliver high-quality, patient-centered perioperative care. The role utilizes the Watson Model of Care to meet age-specific needs and support families, reporting to the Clinical Unit Supervisor of Perioperative Nursing.

The ideal candidate has 1+ year in Surgical Services (or 2+ years as a surgical tech with nursing experience), BLS/ACLS current, CNOR preferred, and bilingual Spanish is a plus.

Qualifications

• BSN preferred; nursing degree required.
• 1+ year nursing experience in Surgical Services or 2+ years as a surgical tech with nursing experience.
• CNOR preferred.

Responsibilities

• Demonstrates nursing process to anticipate and meet patient/family needs.
• Prioritizes and organizes patient care and ensures planned care is followed through.
• Provides age-appropriate care and applies current literature to clinical decisions.
• Maintains therapeutic nurse/patient relationships and conducts hourly rounds.
• Communicates SBAR in all hand-off situations.
• Documents IPOC, assessments, plan of care, implementation, and outcomes.
• Coordinates interdisciplinary discharge planning for a defined patient population.
• Reviews orders and communicates changes with physician and team.
• Evaluates effectiveness of nursing interventions and documents outcomes.
• Upholds professional appearance and adheres to hospital dress code.
