Job summary

Lehigh Valley Health Network is seeking a Perioperative Care Partner for the Day Shift to support nursing staff in the operating room. The role involves patient handling, room turnover, and direct patient care tasks within a fast-paced surgical environment.

You will assist with patient transport, instrument readiness, and postoperative room cleanup, while maintaining a focus on patient safety and compassionate service. A high school diploma and BLS are required.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Mature and conscientious behavior.
• Ability to demonstrate sound judgment.
• American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) certification within 90 days.

Responsibilities

• Assists in activities to increase OR productivity and efficiency.
• Promotes a positive patient surgical experience by supporting the surgical team.
• Assists with transportation of patients to and from the operating room.
• Ensures availability of instruments and supplies; assists with opening supplies and instruments.
• Provides emotional support during pre-operative contact with patients.
• Performs cleaning and disinfection of operating rooms after surgical cases.
• Performs appropriate care and handling of patient specimens.

Provides general non–technical assistance to the nursing staff. **Job Duties*** Participates in activities designed to increase the productivity and efficiency of the operating room.* Promotes a positive patient surgical experience by partnering with the surgical team to provide excellence in customer service within the surgical environment with age-appropriate responsibilities.* Assists with the transportation of patients to and from the operating room.* Ensures availability of instruments and supplies needed and assists with opening of supplies and instruments.* Provides emotional support during pre-operative contact with the patient, as observed by the unit and department nurses.* Performs effective cleaning and disinfection of the operating rooms after surgical cases* Performs appropriate care and handling of patient specimens **Minimum Qualifications*** High School Diploma/GED* Demonstrates mature and conscientious behavior.* Demonstrates sound judgment and technical skills.* American Heart Association Basic Life Support - State of Pennsylvania within 90 Days **Additional Qualifications**: **Physical Demands** Lift and carry 40-50 lbs. Examples: Push/pull patients on bed, stretcher (requires 29 lbs. push force), lateral transfers up to 50 lbs. of the patient's weight. Frequent to continuous standing/walking. Patient transporters can walk 8-10 miles per shift. \\*Patient care providers may be required to perform activities specific to their role including kneeling, bending, squatting and performing CPR.
