Job summary

Brown University Health's Rhode Island Hospital is seeking an Anesthesia Technician to support the anesthesia department and surgical team during the perioperative period. The role requires aseptic technique, equipment handling, and patient-centered care across the lifespan, with duties spanning inventory, monitoring, and setup for procedures.

Role is based at Rhode Island Hospital in Providence, RI, with a day shift (M-F 7a-3:30p) and a competitive pay range.

Qualifications

• High School education with ability to understand medical terminology.
• Knowledge of medical terminology and asepsis principles required.
• Knowledge of cardiovascular equipment and anatomy required.
• Ability to care for patients across the lifespan with respect for aging and diversity.
• Six months operating room experience.
• Anesthesia Technician Certification preferred.

Responsibilities

• Maintains anesthesia supply room inventory per PAR levels with aseptic technique.
• Checks and cleans anesthesia machines and carts.
• Assembles invasive lines (peripheral, arterial, PA) per policy with aseptic technique.
• Restocks equipment based on PAR levels and schedule.
• Assists anesthesia personnel and perioperative nurses with patient positioning for regional anesthesia.
• Inspects and disinfects perioperative equipment (TEE probes).
• Notifies biomed or manufacturers for repairs.
• Sets up and troubleshoots monitoring equipment.
• Assists in setting up and operating equipment for blood clotting and ACT.
• Assists in auto transfusion setup.
• Orders anesthesia equipment and supplies as directed.
