Job summary

Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center in Boston, MA is seeking a Per Diem Patient Care Tech to support the perioperative team under the direct supervision of a professional nurse. The role involves assisting with aseptic technique, inventory management, and preparing the OR for cases, while maintaining a safe, clean work environment.

You will report to the Charge Nurse, handle routine communications, and support patient care activities such as moving patients and handling supplies.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED required.
• 0-1 years related work experience required.
• Capable of following directions.
• Basic familiarity with computers; ability to navigate basic web-based applications.

Responsibilities

• Maintains a safe and clean environment and follows infection control guidelines.
• Cleans and reports equipment that is not functioning to the charge nurse.
• Manages OR inventory and par levels with the materials supervisor.
• Reports patient observations and concerns to the charge nurse.
• Assists with placing supplies away after cases and deliveries.
• Assembles cases and ensures equipment/materials are ready 15 minutes before the next case.
• Answers OR desk calls under the direction of the Clinical Nurse Manager or Charge Nurse.
• Safely assists with patient positioning and body mechanics.
• Demonstrates knowledge of standard policies and procedures.
