Job summary

The Department of Periodontics at Texas A&M University College of Dentistry invites applications for a full-time Academic Professional Track (non-tenure) position, with appointment beginning on or after June 1, 2027. The successful candidate will supervise clinical activities, teach didactic and clinical courses for predoctoral and postdoctoral learners, and engage in clinical research and service.

The appointee may hold the titles of Clinical Assistant Professor or Clinical Associate Professor

Qualifications

• DDS or equivalent degree is required.
• MS/MSc or equivalent from a US-accredited program.
• Certificate in Periodontics from CODA-accredited program.
• Eligible for Texas dental licensure.
• Board certification by ABP if residency completed two+ years ago, otherwise ABP Qualifying Exam is required.
• Evidence of clinical research activity.
• Demonstrated record of clinical teaching, mentoring and service.

Responsibilities

• Supervise and direct patient care in the department.
• Teach predoctoral dental and undergraduate dental hygiene didactic and clinical courses.
• Evaluate students’ performance and professionalism; supervise clinical progress.
• Mentor and advise students; participate in periodontal graduate program teaching and mentoring.
• Actively participate in clinical research and service activities; contribute to scholarly activities.

Education

DDS or equivalent degree

MS/MSc or equivalent degree from a US-accredited program

Certificate in Periodontics from a CODA-accredited periodontal program

Eligible for dental licensure in Texas

Board certification by the American Board of Periodontology (for those trained ≥2 years prior)

ABP Qualifying Exam (for those trained <2 years prior)

Evidence of clinical research activity

Record of clinical teaching, mentoring, and service
