Job summary

Olympia Fields Hospital is seeking a Part-Time Unit Secretary for the Labor and Delivery department to support communication, order transcription, and record preparation in the Perinatal unit.

The role requires a High School Diploma or Equivalent, BLS certification within 30 days, and familiarity with medical terminology and Microsoft Office; acute care experience is preferred. The position involves coordinating with physicians, patients, and other departments to ensure efficient patient care.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or Equivalent.
• BLS certification within 30 days and maintain current.
• Proficient with medical terminology preferred.
• Proficient with Microsoft Office preferred.
• Previous experience in an acute care setting or physician’s practice preferred.

Responsibilities

• The Unit Secretary facilitates the communication needs of the department.
• Transcribes and enters physician orders from records with nursing staff approval.
• Prepares and compiles records in the Perinatal Unit and completes log book entries as needed.
• Contacts physician offices, patients and other departments to facilitate patient care.
• Orders supplies and forms for the unit and prepares each patient chart in a timely manner.
• Assists nursing staff with restocking patient rooms after transfers/discharges.
• Accurately enters information into hospital computer systems and the QS EMR system.
• Assists nursing staff with indirect patient care duties.
