Performs clinical assessment, diagnostic sonography examinations, and synthesizes information with patient's medical history. **Job Duties*** Records anatomical, pathological and/or physiological data for interpretation by a physician.* Maintains electronic patient charts and records to processes sonographic data and other pertinent observations made during the sonogram.* Maintains patient information in the ultrasound documentation/reporting system, image storage system, and EMR. Obtains pertinent medical history from record prior to exams and prepares preliminary reports as requested by the physician.* Uses independent judgement during the sonographic exam to accurately differentiate between normal and pathologic findings.* Selects appropriate transducers and adjusts equipment to optimize the images utilizing the available applications and options on the ultrasound machine, based on fetal position, anatomy, and depth of tissue characteristics.* Recognizes equipment malfunctions and takes corrective action when possible.* Explains medical studies and procedures to patients so they are well informed regarding the examination.* Communicates effectively with patients and their families in patient care setting. Provide scope appropriate supportive patient care during difficult situations. Demonstrate professionalism, flexibility and responsiveness in handling customer interactions.* Interacts with physicians and colleagues in support of quality, efficiency, safety and patient care.**Minimum Qualifications*** High School Diploma/GED and* Technical School Diploma Ultrasonography or* Associate’s Degree Diagnostic Medical Sonography* Ability to maintain compliance with regulatory agencies.* Ability to implement advanced imaging techniques when medically applicable (3D/4D).* Knowledge of various sonography equipment and related applications.* Participates in changes to improve efficiency, workflows, and/or patient safety.* American Heart Association Basic Life Support - State of Pennsylvania within 90 Days* RDMS - Reg Diagnostic Medical Sonographer ARDMS - American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography Upon Hire* NT - Nuchal Translucency - State of Pennsylvania within 180 Days**Preferred Qualifications*** Bachelor’s Degree Healthcare or business discipline**Physical Demands** Lift and carry 40-50 lbs. Examples: Push/pull patients on bed, stretcher (requires 29 lbs. push force), lateral transfers up to 50 lbs. of the patient's weight. Frequent to continuous standing/walking. Patient transporters can walk 8-10 miles per shift. \*Patient care providers may be required to perform activities specific to their role including kneeling, bending, squatting and performing CPR.
