Job summary

Prosperity Workforce Solutions is recruiting a Cardiovascular Perfusionist for a local contract in Camden, New Jersey. You will join a cardiovascular surgical team, providing perfusion services and supporting complex procedures with CPB management.

The role requires an accredited perfusion program graduate, NJ licensure, CCP certification (or eligibility), and experience with open-heart surgery. Shift options include 3x12s or 4x10s weekly with on-call coverage.

Qualifications

• Current CCP certification or eligible.
• Current New Jersey licensure/registration to practice as a Perfusionist.

Responsibilities

• Operate cardiopulmonary bypass equipment during open-heart procedures.
• Prime, operate and monitor extracorporeal circulation systems.
• Monitor patient physiological parameters during perfusion.
• Administer blood products and medications as directed.
• Maintain perfusion records and equipment readiness.
• Collaborate with surgeons, anesthesiologists and nurses.
• Respond to emergencies and on-call cases as required.

Cardiovascular Perfusionist

Location: Camden, New Jersey

Local contract with shift options of 3x12 hours or 4x10 hours weekly +one on call shift.

Prosperity Workforce Solutions is recruiting on behalf of a leading healthcare organization in New Jersey for an experienced Cardiovascular Perfusionist to join its cardiovascular surgical team.

The Cardiovascular Perfusionist will play a critical role in providing safe, high-quality perfusion services during cardiac and cardiovascular procedures. Working closely with cardiothoracic surgeons, anesthesiologists, nurses, and other members of the multidisciplinary surgical team, the Perfusionist will be responsible for managing extracorporeal circulation and supporting patients throughout complex surgical procedures.

Key Responsibilities

• Operate and manage cardiopulmonary bypass equipment during open-heart and cardiovascular surgical procedures.
• Prepare, prime, operate, and monitor extracorporeal circulation systems.
• Monitor and manage patient physiological parameters throughout perfusion.
• Administer blood products, medications, and other agents as directed by the surgical team.
• Manage blood conservation strategies, including cell salvage and autotransfusion techniques.
• Provide appropriate perfusion support during complex cardiovascular procedures.
• Operate and monitor intra-aortic balloon pumps and other mechanical circulatory support devices, as required.
• Participate in procedures involving ECMO and other forms of extracorporeal life support, as applicable.
• Monitor blood gases, electrolytes, hematocrit, coagulation parameters, and other relevant laboratory values.
• Make appropriate adjustments to perfusion parameters in collaboration with the surgical and anesthesia teams.
• Maintain accurate and complete perfusion records and clinical documentation.
• Ensure all perfusion equipment and supplies are properly prepared, maintained, and available for procedures.
• Follow established hospital policies, clinical protocols, infection prevention standards, and patient safety requirements.
• Participate in quality assurance, continuing education, and departmental improvement initiatives.
• Collaborate effectively with surgeons, anesthesiologists, nurses, and other healthcare professionals.
• Respond to emergency and urgent cardiovascular cases as required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution.
• Completion of an accredited Cardiovascular Perfusionist program.
• Current certification as a Certified Clinical Perfusionist (CCP) through the American Board of Cardiovascular Perfusion (ABCP), or eligibility as applicable.
• Current or eligible New Jersey state licensure/registration to practice as a Perfusionist.
• Previous clinical experience as a cardiovascular perfusionist preferred.
• Experience with cardiopulmonary bypass and complex cardiovascular procedures.
• Strong understanding of cardiovascular physiology, extracorporeal circulation, and perfusion technology.

Preferred Experience

Experience with one or more of the following is an asset:

• Adult cardiac surgery
• Pediatric or congenital cardiac surgery
• ECMO / extracorporeal life support
• Mechanical circulatory support
• Intra-aortic balloon pump (IABP)
• Cell salvage and blood conservation
• Minimally invasive cardiac procedures
• Complex cardiovascular surgery
• Emergency and high-acuity cases
