Job summary

JPMorgan Chase & Co. is seeking an SVP/ED Performance & Resiliency Engineer to elevate latency, throughput, capacity planning, and peak readiness for high-volume merchant services platforms.

You will partner with application development and infrastructure teams to improve observability, incident response, and safe release practices, including canary and progressive delivery on AWS with containerized workloads (EKS primary; ECS as applicable).

Qualifications

• Senior experience in performance engineering for distributed systems or SRE-style reliability engineering.
• Strong cloud/container background with AWS and Kubernetes/EKS; ECS exposure is beneficial.
• Experience with modern observability tooling (Datadog, Dynatrace, Grafana, OpenTelemetry, CloudWatch).
• KEDA and/or Karpenter experience is a plus.
• Akamai experience is strongly preferred.

Responsibilities

• Lead performance engineering efforts: load/stress/soak testing, capacity modeling, tuning, and regression prevention.
• Improve production readiness: observability, actionable alerting, incident triage, RCA.
• Strengthen resiliency patterns: timeouts/retries, circuit breakers, backpressure, failover readiness.
• Drive safer releases via canary/progressive delivery and automated rollback patterns.
• Optimize containerized workloads across EKS (primary) and ECS/other compute; drive autoscaling and right-sizing.
