Job summary

Saint Mary’s Hospital in Waterbury, CT, seeks a Performance Improvement Specialist (RN) to implement and maintain an organization-wide Safety, Quality and Performance Improvement Program. The role is on-site with 40 hours weekly, daytime hours, and a focus on audits, data analysis, RCA, and training new safety curricula.

The position requires CT RN licensure, a Master’s degree preferred, and 5+ years hospital experience.

Qualifications

• CT RN license required.
• Master’s Degree in Nursing, Healthcare, or related field preferred.
• At least five (5) years hospital experience preferred.
• Knowledge of regulatory requirements, patient quality of care and safety initiatives; RCA or Lean Management skills preferred.
• Leadership experience with regulatory reporting requirements and response criteria.

Responsibilities

• Perform audits and gap analysis in response to patient and family concerns, department events or trends.
• Communicate serious adverse events and follow through on submission of required documentation.
• Analyze monthly data, create and drive performance improvement activities, and implement changes.
• Assist in training safety curriculum for all staff.
• Conduct root cause investigations in surgery and support investigations with chart reviews and audits.
