Job summary

FieldAI’s Irvine team builds risk-aware, field-ready AI for robotics, blending perception, mapping, and autonomy. The role focuses on 3D scene representations and learned traversability for real robots, moving from prototype to production on hardware.

You will implement perception pipelines, fuse multi-sensor data, and validate systems in real deployments, ensuring robust operation across diverse field conditions. Irvine-based team collaboration is essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in a related technical field.
• 3+ years in verification, validation, systems test, or perception evaluation.
• Experience with robotic sensors such as LiDAR, cameras, GPS, and IMUs.
• Strong understanding of perception system behavior and sensor limitations.
• Experience designing test plans, validation procedures, and metrics.
• Experience analyzing logs and field results to debug issues.
• Strong cross-functional communication and collaboration.

Responsibilities

• Own 3D representation and traversal concepts for navigation, emphasizing real-time on-robot use.
• Design and maintain perception systems for autonomous robots in real-world settings.
• Develop localization and mapping capabilities robust to unstructured environments.
• Implement perception algorithms that fuse data from multiple sensors.
• Deploy perception software from research to production on real robots.
• Improve system robustness with testing, tooling, and regression coverage.
