Job summary

TALENT Software Services is seeking a Perception Engineer III to lead the design and deployment of perception algorithms across LiDAR, radar, and camera systems for autonomous platforms. You will architect real-time C++ pipelines and mentor junior engineers.

You'll collaborate with systems and planning teams, define validation processes, and ensure robust sensor fusion and embedded deployments at client sites.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Robotics, or related field.
  • 4–7 years of experience developing perception systems for autonomous vehicles or robotics platforms.
  • Expert proficiency in C++ (C++11 or newer) with production-grade, multithreaded Linux applications.
  • Proven experience with LiDAR, radar, image processing, or sensor fusion and object tracking.
  • Experience with ROS/ROS2 and DDS or pub-sub messaging architectures.
  • Strong understanding of ML/AI techniques in embedded C++ environments.
  • Proficiency in Python3 or MATLAB for prototyping and analysis.
  • Advanced knowledge of linear algebra, probabilistic estimation, and coordinate transformations.

Responsibilities

  • Lead design, development, and deployment of perception algorithms for LiDAR, radar, camera, and sensor fusion across client platforms.
  • Architect real-time C++ processing pipelines for object detection, classification, tracking, and sensor fusion in embedded environments.
  • Define sensor selection criteria, integration standards, and validation processes for perception systems.
  • Drive resolution of complex perception failures through root cause analysis and refinement.
  • Collaborate with planning, controls, and systems engineers to align outputs with autonomy architecture.
  • Deploy and configure perception systems at customer sites and provide technical leadership during integration.
  • Mentor Perception Engineers I and II, conduct code reviews, and provide guidance.
  • Document system architecture, algorithm decisions, and lessons learned.

Description

As a Perception Engineer III, you are responsible for leading the design and development of advanced perception algorithms and sensor integration solutions that drive the performance of clients autonomous vehicle platforms. You operate with a high degree of autonomy, own complex technical processes, and actively mentor junior engineers on the Perception team.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Lead the design, development, and deployment of perception algorithms for LiDAR, radar, camera, and sensor fusion applications across clients autonomous platforms.
  • Architect real-time C++ processing pipelines for object detection, classification, tracking, and sensor fusion in embedded environments.
  • Define sensor selection criteria, integration standards, and validation processes for new and existing perception systems.
  • Drive resolution of complex or non-standard perception failures through root cause analysis and algorithm refinement.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with planning, controls, and systems engineers to align perception outputs with broader autonomy architecture.
  • Deploy and configure perception systems at customer sites, providing technical leadership during integration.
  • Mentor Perception Engineers I and II, conducting code reviews and providing technical guidance.
  • Document system architecture, algorithm design decisions, and lessons learned to build team knowledge.
