Job summary

Mass Eye & Ear is seeking a Per Diem Surgical Technologist to provide intraoperative care at the Longwood Satellite Location. The role emphasizes learning, strong communication, and commitment to exceptional patient care.

Responsibilities include preparing the operating room, setting up sterile supplies, assisting with positioning, passing instruments, maintaining sterility, documenting procedures, and collaborating with the surgical team. Onsite, per diem position with competitive pay.

Qualifications

• Education: High School Diploma or Equivalent required; Can this role accept experience in lieu of a degree? No
• Licenses and Credentials: CST NBSTSA preferred; CST NBSTSA preferred
• Work Experience: 2-3 years required in acute care; 4 years in acute care; 3-5 years leadership/committee experience preferred
• Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: SPD Sterile Room knowledge; multitasking in fast-paced clinical environment; sterile processing procedures knowledge; familiarity with medical terminology and departmental supplies

Responsibilities

• Prepare the operating room for surgical procedures.
• Set up sterile supplies, instruments, and equipment for surgery.
• Transport patients to the operating room and assist with positioning.
• Pass instruments, supplies, and equipment to the surgical team during procedures.
• Follow proper sterilization techniques to ensure instrument sterility.
• Maintain accurate documentation of surgical procedures and counts.
• Collaborate with surgeons, nurses, anesthesiologists and other team members.
• Assist in preparing the surgical site with drapes and solutions.
• Secure and manage drains and catheters as directed by the surgeon.
