University of Miami seeks a Surgical Technician - Per Diem to ensure sterile field, prepare the surgical suite, and assist with instrument handling during procedures. This part-time, temporary role supports the operating room team in a fast-paced academic medical setting.

Responsibilities include aseptic technique, labeling medications, inventory/ordering of supplies, and maintaining confidentiality of all medical information.

Qualifications

• Education: High School Diploma or equivalent/relevant experience, certification or license
• Experience: Minimum 1 year of relevant experience required
• Certification and Licensing: Refer to department description for applicable certification requirements
• Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Learning Agility, Teamwork, Technical Proficiency, Communication

Responsibilities

• Prepares the surgical suite, ensuring environmental safety for the patient and personnel.
• Demonstrates a surgical conscience by practicing aseptic technique.
• Maintains a neat and organized sterile field.
• Labels medications and solutions on the surgical field.
• Returns instruments to the workroom for decontamination and returns unused supplies and instruments to their designated areas.
