St. Joseph’s University Medical Center in Paterson, NJ is seeking a part-time Surgical Technologist to support the operating room by preparing the room and maintaining aseptic technique under RN supervision.

The role emphasizes instrument and supply readiness for a variety of procedures. The ideal candidate will have an accredited surgical technology program or an eligible credential and must complete 15 hours of continuing education annually in line with state requirements.

Qualifications

• Completed a nationally or regionally accredited educational program for surgical technologists.
• Holds and maintains a certified surgical technologist credential or equivalent.
• Evidence of continuing education: 15 hours annually (effective Dec 20, 2012).
• Alternative credentialing from approved national organization considered by the Department of Health and Senior Services.

Responsibilities

• Prepare the operative room for the surgical case.
• Maintain aseptic technique intraoperatively.
• Provide instrumentation and supplies as required.
• Knowledgeable in applicable surgical procedures.
