Mass General Brigham is seeking a Radiation Therapist to assist in the daily operation of radiation therapy services. You will collaborate with physicians and staff to ensure timely treatment and support department goals.

The role requires an Associate’s Degree in Radiation Therapy (Bachelor’s preferred), ARRT RT certification, and state licensure, with 3–5 years of continuous clinical experience. Onsite workflow with patient care focus and opportunities to contribute to QA and new techniques.

Qualifications

  • Associate's degree in Radiation Therapy is required; a Bachelor's is preferred.
  • Experience cannot be substituted for the degree.
  • ARRT RT (R.T.(T)) certification and state Radiation Therapy license are required.

  • Administers radiation therapy treatments accurately and safely following policies and procedures.
  • Understands equipment, policies, procedures, and protocols; applies knowledge appropriately.
  • Collaborates with Lead and Chief Radiation Therapist to develop new techniques and assist with emerging technology projects.
  • Demonstrates age-specific knowledge for the population served and maintains skills across treatment areas.
  • Supports QA program covering treatment delivery and patient care.
  • Assists with orientation, teaching, and instruction of new staff, students, and visitors.

Job Summary

Assists in the daily operation of radiation therapy services. Interacts with the physician and all office staff members to ensure patients receive timely treatment. Communicates effectively and supports leadership in attaining department goals. Does this position require Patient Care? Yes

Essential Functions
  • Administers radiation therapy treatments accurately and safely, following departmental policies and procedures.
  • Understands the function of all equipment, accessories, treatment policies, procedures, and protocols, and applies knowledge appropriately.
  • Works with the Lead and Chief Radiation Therapist to develop new techniques and assists with emerging technology projects.
  • Demonstrate knowledge and skills to meet age-specific requirements for the population being served in their unit, including infants through elderly patients.
  • Utilizes the Quality Assurance (QA) program to encompass all aspects of treatment, treatment delivery, and quality patient care.
  • Rotates to other treatment areas and demonstrates the knowledge and ability to maintain skills.
  • Assists with orientation, teaching, and instructing new staff, students, visitors, and other staff members who are unfamiliar with the department or specific procedures.

  • Education Associate's Degree Radiation Therapy required or Bachelor's Degree Radiation Therapy preferred

Licenses and Credentials
  • Radiation Therapist [State License] required
  • Radiation Therapy [R.T.(T)(ARRT)] - American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) required
Experience
  • Continuous clinical experience 3-5 years required
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
  • Demonstrate efficient knowledge of all equipment operation, tools, and procedures specific to the assigned area, and effectively troubleshoot issues as they arise.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective interpersonal professional relationships with physicians, management, peers, patients, and their families.
  • Demonstrate strong customer service skills, including the ability to use appropriate judgment, independent thinking, and creativity when resolving issues and conflicts.
  • Must have to ability to handle sensitive and confidential patient information.
  • Must be proficient in the use of the Radiation Oncology Information Systems and software and Hospital Information Systems that integrate with the Department of Radiation Oncology, including, but not limited to: ARIA, EPIC, ExacTrac, and Eclipse.
