Job summary

Mass General Brigham is seeking a Radiation Therapist to assist in daily radiation therapy operations. You will coordinate with physicians and office staff to ensure timely patient treatment and support leadership in achieving department goals.

The role requires state licensure as a Radiation Therapist and ARRT RT credentials, with 3–5 years of continuous clinical experience. Onsite work at 102 Endicott Street, with a per diem/part-time schedule depending on department needs.

Qualifications

  • Associate's Degree in Radiation Therapy required or Bachelor's in Radiation Therapy preferred
  • State License in Radiation Therapy required
  • Radiation Therapy (RT.T.(ARRT)) credential required
  • Continuous clinical experience 3–5 years required

Responsibilities

  • Administers radiation therapy treatments accurately and safely, following departmental policies and procedures.
  • Understands the function of all equipment, accessories, treatment policies, procedures, and protocols, and applies knowledge appropriately.
  • Works with the Lead and Chief Radiation Therapist to develop new techniques and assists with emerging technology projects.
  • Demonstrates knowledge to meet age-specific requirements for patients from infants to elderly.
  • Utilizes the QA program to oversee treatment delivery and patient care quality.
  • Rotates to other treatment areas and maintains skills.
  • Assists with orientation and training of new staff, students, and visitors.

Essential Functions


  • Administers radiation therapy treatments accurately and safely, following departmental policies and procedures.

  • Understands the function of all equipment, accessories, treatment policies, procedures, and protocols, and applies knowledge appropriately

  • Works with the Lead and Chief Radiation Therapist to develop new techniques and assists with emerging technology projects.

  • Demonstrate knowledge and skills to meet age-specific requirements for the population being served in their unit, including infants through elderly patients.

  • Utilizes the Quality Assurance (QA) program to encompass all aspects of treatment, treatment delivery, and quality patient care.

  • Rotates to other treatment areas and demonstrates the knowledge and ability to maintain skills.

  • Assists with orientation, teaching, and instructing new staff, students, visitors, and other staff members who are unfamiliar with the department or specific procedures.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities



  • Demonstrate efficient knowledge of all equipment operation, tools, and procedures specific to the assigned area, and effectively troubleshoot issues as they arise.

  • Ability to establish and maintain effective interpersonal professional relationships with physicians, management, peers, patients, and their families.

  • Demonstrate strong customer service skills, including the ability to use appropriate judgment, independent thinking, and creativity when resolving issues and conflicts.

  • Must have to ability to handle sensitive and confidential patient information.

  • Must be proficient in the use of the Radiation Oncology Information Systems and software and Hospital Information Systems that integrate with the Department of Radiation Oncology, including, but not limited to: ARIA, EPIC, ExacTrac, and Eclipse.
