Job summary

Carroll School is seeking a per diem registered nurse to support health offices across its campuses in Massachusetts during the 2026-2027 school year. The role covers acute illness, triage, medication administration, and collaboration with parents, staff and healthcare providers to ensure student well-being.

Required is an MA RN license with at least two years of pediatric or child health nursing experience, preferably in schools, and CPR/AED certification along with MA-specific medication

Qualifications

• Valid license to practice as a Registered Nurse in Massachusetts.
• Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing preferred.
• Minimum of two years’ experience as a Registered Nurse in Massachusetts in a child health, community health or other relevant clinical nursing setting preferred.
• Prior school nurse experience preferred.
• Fluent and/or comfortable working with an electronic database system.
• Current CPR and AED certification and current Medication Administration and Delegation in MA Schools certification.

Responsibilities

• Assessment, triage and treatment of acute illness, injury and emergencies involving students while adhering to the Nurse Practice Act and Massachusetts DPH guidelines.
• Management and administration of medications as directed by MA Department of Public Health regulations.
• Communication with parents/guardians, faculty/staff and healthcare providers as needed to ensure health and safety of Carroll students.
• Serve as an intermediary between the school, home, primary care providers, medical specialists and health and social agencies regarding student health needs.
• Interpret medical evaluations to students, parents, and school personnel and provide understanding of implications for educational performance of students.
• Assist with implementation of school policies to comply with established health regulations.
• Work with division heads, teachers and staff to provide appropriate physical classroom accommodations for students.
