Job summary

Qualifications

• Current and valid RN license in New Jersey.
• Graduation from an accredited nursing program.
• Current BLS certification.
• Current ACLS certification.
• Experience or training in perioperative nursing, PreOp and PACU.

Responsibilities

• Conduct thorough preoperative assessments reviewing patient history, medications, and allergies to prepare patients for surgery.
• Provide patient education regarding surgical procedures, anesthesia, and postoperative care to alleviate anxiety and ensure informed consent.
• Monitor patients in the PACU, assess vitals, level of consciousness, pain, and potential anesthesia-related complications.
• Collaborate with the surgical team to coordinate patient flow and transitions between preop, operative, and postop phases.
• Document nursing care activities accurately and ensure compliance with ASC policies and regulatory standards.
• Administer medications and interventions as prescribed, including pain management and emergency responses.
• Support discharge planning by evaluating readiness and providing postoperative instructions to patients and caregivers.
