Job summary

SurgiCare of Oradell is seeking a Registered Nurse for PreOp and PACU within our Ambulatory Surgery Center in New Jersey. This Per-Diem position supports patient assessment, education and monitoring across the perioperative continuum.

The nurse collaborates with surgeons and anesthesiologists to deliver safe, high-quality care in a fast-paced outpatient setting, focusing on comfort, safety and efficient throughput throughout the perioperative process.

Qualifications

• Active RN license in New Jersey.
• Graduation from an accredited nursing program.
• Current BLS and ACLS certifications.
• Experience or training in perioperative nursing (PreOp and PACU).
• Strong knowledge of surgical procedures and patient monitoring.

Responsibilities

• Conduct thorough preoperative assessments reviewing history, meds and allergies for surgery preparation.
• Educate patients about procedures, anesthesia and postoperative care to reduce anxiety and ensure informed consent.
• Monitor PACU patients’ vital signs, consciousness, pain and potential complications after anesthesia.
• Coordinate with surgical team to ensure smooth patient flow across preop, operative, and postoperative phases.
• Document nursing care activities and ensure compliance with ASC policies.
• Administer medications and interventions as prescribed, including pain management and emergency response.
• Assist in discharge planning with patient readiness and aftercare instructions for patients and caregivers.
