Job summary

First Choice Nurses of Eastern VA is seeking an experienced PCU Registered Nurse for per diem hospital opportunities in the Hampton Roads, VA area. You can choose day or night shifts and build a schedule that fits your life.

This role offers competitive per diem pay, daily and weekly pay options, and the flexibility to pick up shifts as needed. Active VA RN license, BLS/ACLS, and recent PCU experience are required.

Qualifications

• Active Virginia RN license.
• Minimum 2 years PCU nursing experience in past 4 years.
• Current BLS (AHA).
• Current ACLS (AHA).
• COVID-19 vaccination or approved exemption.
• QuantiFERON-TB Gold in past 12 months.

Responsibilities

• Deliver safe, high-quality nursing care in a PCU setting.
• Assess, monitor, and document patient conditions and responses to treatment.
• Administer medications, IV therapies, and treatments per physician orders.
• Monitor cardiac rhythms and PCU equipment.
• Collaborate with physicians and healthcare team; maintain EMR accuracy.

PCU RN Requirements

• Active Virginia RN License
• Minimum 2 years of recent PCU nursing experience within the past 4 years
• Current BLS - American Heart Association (AHA)
• Current ACLS - American Heart Association (AHA)
• Current QuantiFERON-TB Gold test within the past 12 months
• COVID-19 vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption

Additional credentials may be required based on the hospital assignment.

• Assess, monitor, and document patient conditions and responses to treatment
• Administer medications, IV therapies, and treatments according to physician orders
• Monitor cardiac rhythms and other specialized equipment required for PCU patients
• Recognize changes in patient condition and respond appropriately
• Collaborate with physicians and interdisciplinary healthcare teams
• Maintain accurate and timely electronic medical records
• Follow hospital policies, infection-control standards, and patient-safety guidelines
• Provide patient and family education
• Adapt professionally to different hospital environments and unit needs
