Job summary

University of Wisconsin Hospitals and Clinics Authority is recruiting a Per Diem Registered Nurse for the Emergency Department in Madison. The role involves direct patient care with flexible shifts across evenings, nights, weekends, or holidays per six-week scheduling period.

Applicants should hold a WI RN license (or a license from a compact state), CPR, ACLS, and PALS. BSN preferred with ICU/ED experience preferred.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Nursing (BSN) preferred.
  • 6 months of RN experience required.
  • 1 year of ICU, Critical Care, or Emergency Department experience with adult and/or pediatric populations preferred.
  • Licensed as a Registered Nurse (RN) in WI or compact license; CPR, ACLS, PALS required within specified timelines.

Responsibilities

  • Provide direct patient care in the Emergency Department.
  • Participate in a fast-paced, high-acuity environment.
  • Collaborate with the ED team to deliver safe, efficient care.

Per Diem RN - Emergency Department (Finance)

Per Diem Registered Nurses must work a minimum of twenty-four (24) hours, per six (6) week scheduling period in direct patient care. As applicable to operations, one shift should be an evening, night, weekend or holiday.

We are seeking a Registered Nurse (RN) - Emergency Department (ED/ER) to:
  • Be part of the only healthcare system in Wisconsin that offers Level I Trauma Care for adults and children and a Burn and Wound Center, as verified by the American College of Surgeons (ACS).
  • Join a department that consists of 40 acute care adult rooms, 11 Pediatric rooms, three multi-purpose procedure rooms, and three Behavioral Health "Safe" rooms.
  • Fully equipped with three Major Trauma rooms and a Pediatric Resuscitation room to facilitate the care of the critically ill or injured adult and pediatric patient.
  • New CareSTART area which is open during peak times to expedite the intake process and allow for patient care to begin sooner. An RN and physician see the patient on arrival and care can begin immediately.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree in Nursing (BSN) Preferred
Work Experience
  • 6 months of RN experience Required
  • 1 year of ICU, Critical Care, or Emergency Department experience with adult and/or pediatric populations Preferred
Licenses & Certifications
  • Licensed as a Registered Nurse (RN) in the State of WI or holds a license issued by a jurisdiction that has adopted the nurse licensure compact Upon Hire Required
  • CPR certification Upon Hire Required
  • ACLS within 6 months Required
  • PALS within 6 months Required
  • TNCC Preferred
  • ENPC Preferred
