Job summary

UNM Sandoval Regional Medical Center in Rio Rancho, NM seeks an RN Per Diem I to provide direct nursing care in PCU/ICU/ED settings within the nursing process. Two shifts per schedule, plus weekend, summer and winter holiday coverage are required.

Responsibilities include delivering safe patient care, following hospital policies, developing care plans, administering medications, documenting findings, and collaborating with the health care team. NM RN licensure is required.

Qualifications

• Education: Essential includes Program Graduate.
• Education: Nonessential includes Bachelor's Degree.
• Education specialization: Essential: Nationally Accredited Nursing Graduate.
• Experience: Essential: 1 year directly related experience.
• Credentials: CPR for Healthcare/BLS Prov or Prof Rescuers w/in 30 days; NM RN licensure.
• Nonessential: Nationally Certified in area; PALS; TNCC and/or ENPC.
• Physical Conditions: Heavy Work as described.
• Working Conditions: Hazardous materials and TB testing requirements.

Responsibilities

• Deliver safe direct care to an assigned group of patients.
• Work within Hospitals, Nursing division and departmental policies.
• Implement and document individualized care plans including discharge planning and teaching.
• Assist with tests and procedures, ensure proper consent.
• Participate in orientation; precept and evaluate new personnel.
• Institute emergency measures for sudden patient changes.
• Maintain patient records with necessary information.
• Answer telephones and triage calls per policy.
• Administer medications, including IV, per the Seven Rights.
• Maintain a safe, therapeutic environment for patients and families.
• Pursue professional growth through education and in-services.
• Promote patient safety and report concerns.
• Encourage patient participation in their own care.
• Support Patient Centered Medical Home expectations where applicable.
