Job summary

NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital, located at Columbia University Irving Medical Center in New York, NY, is seeking a Per Diem Registered Respiratory Therapist for a Flex Shift. The role covers weekday, weekend, and holiday coverage with on-site obligations and a minimum of 2 days (15 hours) per month plus 1 weekend shift per quarter.

Under physician supervision, you will perform respiratory therapies, supervise technicians, and ensure patient airways and ventilation.

Qualifications

• 1-2 years of hospital-based experience.
• Current New York State Respiratory Therapist License.
• Current Basic Cardiac Life Support Certification (BCLS).
• Preferred candidates will have RRT and CRT certification from the National Board for Respiratory Care.

Responsibilities

• Under the direction of a licensed physician, perform various treatments, therapies, invasive and non-invasive procedures.
• Supervise and monitor clinical activities of Respiratory Technicians as described within licensure law.
• Assist in transportation of incubated patients with emphasis on maintaining airways and providing ventilation and oxygenation.
• Assess modalities of respiratory therapy and recommend changes to improve delivery of care.
