Job summary

Goddard Riverside Community Center operates a Hillside Hotel emergency capacity site in Queens, providing shelter and supportive services to families. Residential Aid staff welcome residents, monitor living conditions, and help families adjust to their new environment.

Responsibilities include safety checks, adherence to codes, assisting in daily living skills, and coordinating with building staff to ensure tenant safety.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Experience in shelter or residential setting.
• Bilingual in English, Spanish, French, or Creole (written and spoken) preferred.
• Food Protection Certificate required during first few weeks of hire.
• Driver’s License preferred.

Responsibilities

• Complete regular and routine resident and facility checks to ensure residents are not at risk and that facility management is aware of potential hazards.
• Ensure compliance with health, fire, and safety codes, ensure timely handling of violations, prevent violations whenever possible.
• Assist in monitoring and development of residents’ daily independent living skills.
• Establish and cultivate professional relationships with families.
• Escort clients via public transportation to appointments as needed.
• Co-Facilitate and participate in social emotional learning groups and activities for families.
