Job summary

DeBary Health & Rehabilitation Center is seeking a compassionate Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA) for per diem coverage in our skilled nursing facility. You will assist residents with therapeutic exercises, mobility training, transfers, and daily activities under the supervision of a licensed Physical Therapist.

We welcome candidates with or without prior PTA experience who demonstrate empathy, teamwork, and a patient-centered approach.

Qualifications

• Completion of an accredited Physical Therapist Assistant program.
• Current PTA certification or license in the state of Florida
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills, especially with elderly or rehabilitating residents
• Ability to work collaboratively with Physical Therapists, nursing staff, and other care team members
• Compassionate, patient-centered approach to care

Responsibilities

• Deliver high-quality patient care under the supervision of a licensed Physical Therapist
• Assist residents with mobility training, gait training, transfers, and strengthening exercises
• Implement individualized therapy treatment plans according to resident needs
• Monitor resident progress and document outcomes accurately and timely
• Provide education and support to residents and their families regarding therapeutic activities and home exercise programs
• Maintain a safe and clean therapy environment, ensuring equipment is used appropriately
• Collaborate with nursing staff, therapy teams, and interdisciplinary teams to support overall care plans
• Encourage resident participation and promote independence in daily functional activities
