Job summary

Heywood Healthcare is seeking a Per Diem Physical Therapy Assistant to support both inpatient and outpatient treatment plans. You will assist licensed therapists, monitor patient responses, and help maintain compliant documentation while delivering compassionate care.

The role requires an Associate’s Degree from a CAPTE-approved PTA program, MA licensure, and BLS or rapid certification within 90 days. Strong interpersonal skills and computer proficiency are essential.

Qualifications

• Associate's Degree from a CAPTE approved Physical Therapy Assistant program or equivalent.
• State licensure as a Physical Therapy Assistant.
• BLS certification required or must obtain within 90 days of employment.
• Prior PTA experience preferred; new graduates considered.
• Ability to operate physical therapy modalities and perform treatments as assigned.
• Good interpersonal and customer service skills.
• Ability to read, write and communicate effectively in English.
• Proficient with computers and software.

Responsibilities

• Assists the licensed Physical Therapist in carrying out procedures and treatment programs.
• Observes patient reactions during treatment and reports need for modification to the therapist.
• Documents charges and patient responses to meet regulatory requirements.
• Provides supervision to Rehab Services Technicians as appropriate.
• Provides clinical instruction to students and may lead in-service trainings.
• Completes continuing education to meet regulatory requirements.
• Presents a professional demeanor and maintains high standards of patient care.
