Qualifications

• Minimum of 1-3 years of experience as a phlebotomist in a hospital laboratory setting.
• Excellent customer service and phlebotomy skills; ability to follow directions with minimal supervision.

Responsibilities

• Collect blood specimens from patients of all ages using approved venipuncture and capillary techniques, following infection control and safety protocols.
• Verify patient identity using at least two identifiers and ensure proper labeling of specimens at collection.
• Prepare, label, and deliver specimens to laboratory departments within required time frames, maintaining sample integrity.
• Access and review EMR orders; enter collection data and notes accurately in the hospital EMR.
• Communicate procedures clearly and compassionately to patients, including those who are anxious or cognitively impaired.
