Job summary

Shields Health is seeking a Per Diem Nuclear Medicine Technologist to cover Sunday shifts at Baystate from 7am to 5:30pm and 10:30am-7:30pm.

The role involves operating PET equipment, ensuring patient safety, and adhering to NRC and JCAHO regulations. A minimum of one year of nuclear medicine experience, ARRT/NMTCB certification, and CPR are required. Excellent communication and IV skills are essential.

Qualifications

• Must have a state license to practice in the employed state.
• CPR certification required.
• ARRT and/or NMTCB registration required.
• Minimum one year of nuclear medicine experience.
• Excellent interpersonal skills.
• Proficient in starting IVs.
• Able to sit and use a computer for extended periods.
• Able to assist patients with mobility.
• Ability to push, pull, and lift 25 pounds.

Responsibilities

• Follow Shields Health Care Group policies, procedures, and protocols to ensure patient safety at all times.
• Follow rules and regulations established by the NRC, state regulatory agencies, and JCAHO.
• Inform the patient of all aspects of their exam to their level of understanding.
• Operate PET equipment to produce images and measure concentrations of Radioactive Isotopes in specific body areas and body products.
• Performs all hot lab responsibilities.
• Ensure patient is cleared of all contraindications and hazards.
• Accurately position the patient and ensure their comfort.
• Maintain visual and verbal contact with the patient during the exam.
• Complete all forms pertaining to patient’s exam.
• Record patient data to Tech Data Entry program.
• Provide and issue films when appropriate.
• Forward PET related data to Radiologist upon completion of exam.
• Refilm cases as time allows
• Assist clerical staff as circumstances arise.
• Clean and re-supply equipment and rooms as needed.
