Baystate Health is seeking a Per Diem Registered Nurse (RN) to join the Peri-Anesthesia Unit (PANU) at Baystate Medical Center in Springfield, Massachusetts. This per diem role offers flexible scheduling in a high-acuity perioperative environment at the region’s premier medical center.

The RN will assess and care for pre-operative and post-anesthesia patients, collaborate with surgeons and anesthesia providers, and maintain thorough documentation while promoting patient safety and exceptional

Qualifications

• Current licensure as a Registered Nurse in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts.
• Current American Heart Association (AHA) BLS Healthcare Provider certification.
• Minimum one (1) year of RN experience required.
• Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) required.

Responsibilities

• Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate nursing care for pre-operative and post-anesthesia patients.
• Provide comprehensive patient assessments and monitor patients recovering from anesthesia.
• Prepare patients and families for surgical procedures through education and clinical evaluation.
• Recognize and respond to changes in patient condition using sound clinical judgment.
• Collaborate with surgeons, anesthesia providers, and multidisciplinary team members.
• Ensure safe patient transitions throughout the perioperative continuum of care.
• Maintain accurate and timely clinical documentation.
• Promote patient safety, quality outcomes, and an exceptional patient experience.
