Baystate Health is seeking a Per Diem Registered Nurse (RN) to join the Peri-Anesthesia Unit (PANU) at Baystate Medical Center in Springfield, Massachusetts. This role supports pre-operative and post-anesthesia care in a high-acuity surgical environment.

You will collaborate with surgeons, anesthesia providers, and perioperative staff to ensure safe transitions, accurate documentation, and exceptional patient outcomes. Prior PACU or perioperative experience is preferred.

Qualifications

• Current licensure as a Registered Nurse in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts.
• Current American Heart Association (AHA) BLS Healthcare Provider certification.
• Minimum one (1) year of RN experience required.
• Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) required.

Responsibilities

• Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate nursing care for pre-operative and post-anesthesia patients.
• Provide comprehensive patient assessments and monitor patients recovering from anesthesia.

Make an Impact with Baystate Health Baystate Health is seeking a Per Diem Registered Nurse (RN) to join our Peri-Anesthesia Unit (PANU) at Baystate Medical Center (BMC) in Springfield, Massachusetts. As western Massachusetts's premier healthcare provider and home to Baystate Medical Center, a Magnet Hospital for Nursing Excellence, we are committed to delivering exceptional patient care and supporting professional nursing practice.

Our PANU team provides specialized pre-operative and post-anesthesia care for adult and pediatric surgical patients undergoing a wide range of procedures. Nurses work closely with surgeons, anesthesiologists, CRNAs, perioperative staff, and interdisciplinary care teams to ensure safe, high-quality care throughout the surgical experience.

This per diem opportunity offers experienced nurses the chance to work in a fast-paced, high-acuity surgical environment supporting the region's only Level I Trauma Center while maintaining scheduling flexibility. You'll collaborate with a highly skilled team dedicated to clinical excellence, patient safety, and outstanding patient outcomes.

The Registered Nurse (RN) Will:

Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate nursing care for pre-operative and post-anesthesia patients. Provide comprehensive patient assessments and monitor patients recovering from anesthesia. Prepare patients and families for surgical procedures through education and clinical evaluation. Recognize and respond to changes in patient condition using sound clinical judgment. Collaborate with surgeons, anesthesia providers, and multidisciplinary team members. Ensure safe patient transitions throughout the perioperative continuum of care. Maintain accurate and timely clinical documentation. Promote patient safety, quality outcomes, and an exceptional patient experience.

Required Skills
