Job summary

Baystate Health is seeking a Per Diem Registered Nurse to join the Perioperative Services team at Baystate Wing Hospital in Palmer, MA. The role supports a fast-paced surgical environment, working with surgeons, anesthesia providers, nursing colleagues, and an interdisciplinary team to deliver safe, high-quality patient-centered perioperative care.

The position requires MA RN licensure and at least one year of nursing experience, with a focus on age-appropriate patient care and collaboration

Qualifications

• Current Registered Nurse (RN) licensure in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts.
• One or more years of nursing experience required.
• Demonstrated knowledge and skills necessary to provide safe, age-appropriate, patient-centered care.
• Any exception to experience requirements must be approved by the Chief Nursing Officer (CNO).

Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care in accordance with the Professional Practice Model, MA Nurse Practice Act, ANA Standards of Practice, and Baystate Health values.
• Perform comprehensive patient assessments and develop, implement, and evaluate individualized plans of care.
• Administer medications and treatments safely while maintaining standards of nursing practice.
• Recognize changes in patient condition and intervene appropriately to promote optimal outcomes and patient safety.
• Educate patients and families throughout the perioperative experience and support discharge planning needs.
• Collaborate with surgeons, anesthesia providers, and interdisciplinary team members to coordinate effective patient care.
• Participate in quality improvement initiatives, shared governance activities, and departmental performance improvement efforts.
• Maintain clinical competency, regulatory compliance, and ongoing professional development through required education and annual competencies.
