Qualifications

• Graduated a COAARC Approved Respiratory Care Program.
• DE State License, NBRC-RRT, and BLS-HCP required; AARC membership; PALS within 90 days of hire.
• Preferred: NRP, NBRC-NPS, NBRC-CPFT, NBRC-RPFT, NBRC-SDS, AEC and ACLS.

Responsibilities

• Verify all physician orders for respiratory care and provide age-appropriate care to infants, children, adolescents, and adults.
• Assess patients clinically and evaluate appropriateness of therapy.
• Provide aerosolized medication therapy, airway clearance therapies, airway management (e.g., trach changes, suctioning), ventilator setup and management, and non-invasive monitoring.
• Provide emergency respiratory care, arterial blood gas sampling, point-of-care testing, and ECGs; participate in airway management during procedures.
• Document care in EMR and enter charges as needed; participate in discharge planning and home-care education.
• Offer education and recommendations to physicians and nurses regarding respiratory care.
