Job summary

Qualifications

• Associate degree in Respiratory Care (degree level) required.
• DE State License, NBRC-RRT, and BLS-HCP required; AARC membership, PALS within 90 days of hire.
• Preferred: NRP, NBRC-NPS, NBRC-CPFT, NBRC-RPFT, NBRC-SDS, AEC, and ACLS.

Responsibilities

• Verify physician orders for respiratory care and provide age-appropriate care.
• Assess patients clinically and evaluate appropriateness of therapy.
• Deliver aerosolized medication therapy, airway clearance therapies, airway management (e.g., trach changes, tube taping, suctioning); ventilator setup and management; non-invasive monitoring (pulse oximetry, transcutaneous O2/CO2, end-tidal CO2).
• Provide emergency respiratory care (airway management, CPR), ABG sampling, point-of-care testing, and ECGs; assist with bronchoscopies.
• Document care and orders in EMR or hard copy; enter charges when necessary.
• Participate in discharge planning and home-care education; educate patients and families.
• Provide recommendations to physicians/nurses regarding respiratory care and evaluate equipment/procedures; stay current with policies.
