Job summary

Heywood Healthcare is seeking a per diem Registration Specialist to support patient intake across ER, Admitting and Scheduling offices. The role includes accurate registration of patient information, insurance verification, and ensuring valid authorizations, with coverage for switchboard when needed.

The position requires strong communication, familiarity with Meditech, high school diploma, and ability to handle high-volume workflows.

Qualifications

• Medical terminology, spelling competence and computer experience essential.
• Referral and/or third party experience billing preferable.
• Knowledge of Meditech.

Responsibilities

• Register patient accounts, insurance and ensure authorizations are valid.
• Initiates patient registration with accurate demographics and insurance information.
• Contacts insurance companies to verify eligibility and benefits within 24 hours.
• Collaborates with care staff for bed assignments and charts delivery.
• Maintains registration policies and covers ED registration as needed.
• Accurately compiles daily, weekly, and monthly data as requested.
