Job summary

St. Mary’s Hospital - Kankakee is seeking a Per Diem Patient Care Assistant in the Med/Surg department in Kankakee, IL. The role supports nurses, assists with daily living activities, and maintains a safe patient environment during day shifts (6a–6p).

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• CNA certification Illinois approved.
• Phlebotomy certification preferred.
• EKG certification preferred.
• BLS (AHA) within 30 days of hire and current.
• Knowledge of Medical Terminology.
• Minimum six months experience in acute care hospital or physician’s office preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assist patients with activities of daily living and provide basic nursing care.
• Maintain a safe environment under RN supervision.
• Support team in Med/Surg department on per diem schedule.

Education

High School Diploma or equivalent

Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA)

Phlebotomy certification

EKG certification

BLS (AHA) CPR

Medical Terminology knowledge

6 months acute care experience
