Job summary

Qualifications

• Graduate of a NAACLS approved educational training program or a bachelor's degree with a concentration in a biological or allied health discipline
• 3+ years of experience as a Pathologist's Assistant under direct supervision of a pathologist

Responsibilities

• Conducts gross examination of human tissue surgical specimens. Describes gross features via dictation and dissects specimens
• Selects appropriate diagnostic sections for histologic processing in collaboration with the pathologist
• Prepares tissue using proper histologic procedures
• Reviews cases with a pathologist on sign-out and consults with staff as needed
• Maintains detailed records of dissections and dictations
• Assists in compiling reports for surgical pathology
• Maintains equipment and cleanliness of the surgical pathology suite
• Adheres to laboratory policies, HIPAA, CQI, OSHA, and accreditation guidelines

Education

NAACLS approved educational training program or bachelor's degree in biological/allied health discipline
