Job summary

Cambridge Health Alliance in Cambridge, MA seeks a Pathology Assistant to support the Pathology department under the Lab Director and Associate Pathologist. Responsibilities include preparing surgical specimens, dictation, and ensuring timely processing of specimens.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree required; NAACLS accredited Pathologist’s Assistant program required; Master's preferred.
• Must be fluent in English and have strong interpersonal skills.
• Experience with dictation systems and pathology lab workflows is valued.

Responsibilities

• Provide gross descriptions of surgical specimens accurately and efficiently.
• Dissect tissue and place into properly labeled cassettes for processing.
• Perform freezing sections with staining and deliver slides within required timeframes.
• Capture high-quality photographs of gross specimens and slides for records.
• Train new staff and assist in dictation and template creation for Dragon Voice.
• Ensure proper handling and labeling of chemicals and hazardous waste according to safety guidelines.
• Maintain instrument readiness and perform routine maintenance per schedule.
