Job summary

Mercy is seeking a Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant to support occupational therapy services under supervision. You will assist with assessments and implement individualized treatment plans for patients across ages, following department policies.

The ideal candidate is a graduate of an accredited OTA program, holds a COTA license or is eligible, and is BLS certified; new grads are welcome. Mercy offers comprehensive benefits and growth opportunities.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited Occupational Therapist Assistant program.
• Current license for Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant or eligible for licensure in state of practice.
• BLS certification; current before caring for patients independently.
• One year experience preferred but will consider new graduates.

Responsibilities

• Assist with initial assessment on each patient under OT supervision and according to department policies.
• Document the course of patient care including progress notes and treatment needs.
• Administer modalities, exercise regimes, or treatment procedures as per policies.
• Maintain progress notes and departmental records on each patient.
• Promote education within the department.
• Demonstrate knowledge of special needs and behaviors across age groups (neonatal to geriatric).
• Perform miscellaneous duties observed as directed by the Inpatient Physical Medicine Supervisor.
