Job summary

Myana in New York State is seeking an Occupational Therapist to evaluate and treat patients per physician prescriptions. You will develop treatment plans to improve upper-extremity function and coordinate with the care team to meet patient goals.

The role requires a NY license to practice, a Bachelor's degree in Occupational Therapy, and 1–3 years of relevant experience. You will document care, assess DME needs, and educate patients and caregivers to foster independence.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Administers direct patient care in accordance with the prescription of the referring physician or other state-authorized practitioner.
• Develops and implements treatment plans to improve gross and fine motor coordination, movement and function of upper extremities.
• Submits required documentation in accordance with department policies and procedures.
• Utilizes thorough evaluation techniques to establish goals and designs a treatment plan to meet patient needs.
• Provides patient remediation to assist the patient in achieving maximum functioning in daily life.
• Reviews and arranges for required durable medical equipment (DME) and instructs patient in use and protocols; recommends follow-up care.
• Participates in quality improvement chart reviews and activities.
• Treats patients with acute or developmental disabilities using kinetic activities, perceptual training and developmental sequencing.
• Instructs patient and caregivers in daily living skills to promote independence.
• Performs related duties as required; all duties considered essential functions under the Americans with Disabilities Act.

Job Responsibility

• 1.Administers direct patient care in accordance with the written and signed prescription of the referring physician or other State authorized practitioner.
• 2.Develops and implements treatment plans to improve gross and fine motor coordination, movement and function of upper extremities.
• 3.Submits required documentation in accordance with the policies and procedures of the department.
• 4.Utilizes thorough and appropriate evaluation techniques to establish realistic goals; designs and implements a treatment plan which best meets the needs of the patient and works toward achieving established goals.
• 5.Provides patient remediation in patient's deficit areas to assist the patient to achieve maximum functioning in his/her daily life.
• 6.Reviews and arranges for required Durable Medical Equipment (DME) and instructs patient in use and protocols for dealing with malfunction of same; makes appropriate recommendations for follow-up care upon discharge.
• 7.Participates in quality improvement chart reviews and activities.
• 8.Treats patients with acute or developmental disabilities using methods including but not limited to: kinetic activities, perceptual training and developmental sequencing.
• 9.Instruct patient and significant caregivers in daily living skills including, but not limited to, tub transfers, dressing activities, feeding and household activities in order to promote a more independent and self-sufficient level of functioning.

Job Qualification

• 1.Bachelor's Degree required, or equivalent combination of education and related experience.
• 2.Current License to practice as an Occupational Therapist in New York State, required.
• OR
• Current limited permit to practice as an Occupational Therapist in New York State, required (applicable to outpatient settings only).
• Specialized certificates, as needed.
• 3.1-3 years of relevant experience, required.
