Job summary

Northwell Health in New York State is seeking an Occupational Therapist to evaluate and treat patients under physician prescriptions, in outpatient or related settings.

You will develop and implement treatment plans to improve upper-extremity function, provide patient education, and document care per department policies.

Candidates should have a Bachelor's degree in OT, NY license (or limited permit for outpatient), and 1–3 years of relevant experience; additional certifications may be considered.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Occupational Therapy required or equivalent.
• Current NY State OT license required.
• Outpatient setting permitting limited permit acceptable.
• 1–3 years of relevant experience required.

Responsibilities

• Administers direct patient care per prescription.
• Develops and implements upper-extremity treatment plans.
• Documents according to department policies.
• Uses evaluation techniques to set goals and plans.
• Remediates deficits to maximize daily functioning.
• Assesses DME needs and instructs patient in use and follow-up.
• Participates in quality improvement chart reviews.
• Treats acute or developmental disabilities with kinetic activities, perceptual training, and developmental sequencing.
• Instructs patients and caregivers in daily living skills to promote independence.
• Performs other duties as essential per ADA.
