Job summary

Mission Regional Medical Center seeks a Nuclear Medicine Technologist to perform diagnostic imaging procedures and therapeutic treatments using radioactive materials in a per diem capacity. The role involves supporting patient care in a busy hospital setting with flexible hours and shift variability.

The ideal candidate holds a current state license, ARRT/NMTCB certification, and has radiology experience. Strong anatomy knowledge and computer skills are essential for accurate imaging and safety.

Qualifications

  • Current State Nuclear Medicine License issued by CDPH, ARRT or NMTCB Certification in Nuclear Medicine Technology required.
  • One year of acute, clinical radiology experience is preferred.
  • At least one year of experience as a nuclear medicine technologist preferred.
  • Knowledge of mobile and stationary Radiographic / Fluoroscopic equipment preferred.
  • Extensive knowledge of anatomy and medical terminology is required.
  • Graduate of a program accredited by ARRT.
  • Current BCLS (AHA) required.
  • Proficient computer skills.

Responsibilities

  • Manage complex patient cases and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to develop tailored imaging plans and treatment strategies.
  • Operate ultrasound machines to produce real-time images of patients' internal organs, tissues, and blood flow, selecting imaging techniques and settings to capture clear images.
  • Use a handheld transducer (probe) to transmit high-frequency sound waves and capture echoes to create images, adjusting parameters to obtain multiple views.
  • Interpret ultrasound images in real-time to assess organ structure and function, and communicate findings to radiologists or physicians.
  • May perform Doppler ultrasound studies to evaluate blood flow and detect abnormalities such as occlusions or stenosis.
  • Proficient in using advanced imaging techniques such as contrast-enhanced ultrasound or ultrasound-guided procedures (biopsies, aspirations, injections, thoracentesis, and paracentesis).
  • Perform a wider range of ultrasound examinations across obstetric, gynecologic, vascular, abdominal, cardiac, or musculoskeletal systems.
