Job summary

Cayuga Health, Ithaca NY, is seeking a Medical Technologist/Clinical Lab Scientist to analyze and test specimens, operate complex lab equipment and assist in quality control. The role requires NYS licensure and ASCP registration, with prior lab experience preferred.

Qualifications

• Education: Bachelor's degree in Medical Technology (or equivalent) and Registered as a Medical Technologist/Clinical Lab Scientist by ASCP or equivalent.
• Licensure: Meets NYS Department of Health requirements and is currently licensed as a Clinical Lab Scientist
• Experience: Prior laboratory experience is preferred

Responsibilities

• Analyze and test specimens, including proficiency testing and manual procedures, and report appropriately according to protocol
• Operate, maintain and troubleshoot complex equipment
• Utilize complex information systems; collect and interpret data
• Perform and interpret quality control
• Maintain a compliant environment, including adherence to all lab and hospital procedures, NYS, TJC, HIPAA standards, infection control and safety guidelines
• Participate in quality assurance and performance improvement activities and maintain inter‑and intra‑departmental workflow by cooperating with others
• Maintain adequate inventory and conserve resources
