Job summary

Cayuga Health, Ithaca NY, is seeking a Medical Technologist/Clinical Lab Scientist to analyze and test specimens, operate complex lab equipment and assist in quality control. The role requires NYS licensure and ASCP registration, with prior lab experience preferred.

Onsite at our Ithaca location, per diem shifts, with competitive benefits. The successful candidate will work within a multidisciplinary team, follow HIPAA and infection control guidelines, and contribute to continuous quality

Qualifications

• Education: Bachelor's degree in Medical Technology (or equivalent) and Registered as a Medical Technologist/Clinical Lab Scientist by ASCP or equivalent.
• Licensure: Meets NYS Department of Health requirements and is currently licensed as a Clinical Lab Scientist
• Experience: Prior laboratory experience is preferred

Responsibilities

• Analyze and test specimens, including proficiency testing and manual procedures, and report appropriately according to protocol
• Operate, maintain and troubleshoot complex equipment
• Utilize complex information systems; collect and interpret data
• Perform and interpret quality control
• Maintain a compliant environment, including adherence to all lab and hospital procedures, NYS, TJC, HIPAA standards, infection control and safety guidelines
• Participate in quality assurance and performance improvement activities and maintain inter‑and intra‑departmental workflow by cooperating with others
• Maintain adequate inventory and conserve resources

• Experience: Prior laboratory experience is preferred

• Good written and oral communication skills preferred
• Requires ability to prioritize work, manage time wisely and adjust to changes in work volumes

Physical Requirements

• May require light lifting and carrying, including boxes, equipment, stooping and kneeling, maybe required to lift up to 30 pounds
• Repetitive use of hands (e.g., computer keyboard usage), sitting, walking or standing for long periods of time is often necessary; must be physically able to operate automation used in the job

• 0%‑5% Travel can be expected in this role

Pay Range Disclosure

• Standard Rate of $35.75 to $49.50 per hour plus benefits
