Job Overview

We are pleased to announce the Per Diem Mental Health Technician position at Sandy Pines.

About the Facility

SandyPines Residential Treatment Center is a 149-bed residential psychiatric facility servicing children and adolescents ages 5 to 17, located in South Florida near Jonathan Dickinson State Park.

Responsibilities

• Milieu management and continuous patient care supervision.
• Interactions & role modeling to patients; ensuring a safe environment.
• Lead therapeutic MHT patient groups.
• Conduct Q15 rounds and one-to-one patient supervision.
• Participate in crisis intervention situations as needed.
• Follow the therapeutic interventions outlined by the treatment team for each patient and maintain awareness of the patient’s individualized plan of care, including goals and interventions.

Shift Details

12‑Hour shifts: 7:00 am – 7:30 pm or 7:00 pm – 7:30 am for any day of the week.

Qualifications

Education / Training

• High school graduate or equivalent.
• At least one year of previous experience in a healthcare setting and/or previous behavioral health experience strongly preferred.

Knowledge and Skills

• Current BLS certification required.
• Must complete and maintain Crisis Prevention Intervention (CPI) training (aggression management, crisis intervention, and restraint training), which may be obtained during new‑hire orientation.
• Must pass competency exams within 90 days of hire.
• May be required to work overtime and flexible hours.
• Must be able to prioritize workload, effectively multi‑task, and problem‑solve in a fast‑paced environment.
• Excellent listening, communication, prioritization, and follow‑through skills with a strong focus on providing high‑quality patient care.

Physical Requirements

Continuous verbal and written communication; ability to hear ordinary conversation and occasional high‑ or low‑pitched sounds; continuous firm/simple grasping and fine manipulation of both hands.
