Sandy Pines Residential Treatment Center is seeking a dynamic Day Shift Unit Coordinator/Mental Health Tech Supervisor to oversee unit milieu and supervise Mental Health Technicians in a fast-paced residential setting for children and teens.

Responsibilities include assisting the Charge Nurse with resident care, documenting observations, and promoting a therapeutic environment while coordinating activities and education for residents.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent with 3–5 years of experience working with children/adolescents required; A.A. degree with 1 year experience also acceptable; Bachelor’s Degree preferred.

Responsibilities

• Manage milieu on assigned units and supervise Mental Health Technicians.
• Assist Charge Nurse in organizing and monitoring resident care.
• Represent MHTs in committee meetings.

Sandy PinesResidential Treatment Centeris a149-bed Residential Psychiatric Facility servicing children and adolescents ages 5 to 17. The facility is in beautiful South Florida, nestled beside Jonathan Dickinson State Park and just minutes away from the shores of the Atlantic Ocean. Sandy Pines is seeking a dynamic and talented Day Shift Unit Coordinator/Mental Health Tech Supervisor. The MHT Unit Coordinator will be responsible for management of the milieu of the units assigned and supervising the Mental Health Technicians on their assigned unit. They will also assist the Charge Nurse in organizing and monitoring all aspects of resident care and will represent the Mental Health Technicians in committee meetings.

• Observes patients to detect behavior patterns. Documents and reports observations to Charge Nurse or appropriate staff.
• Takes and records measures of patients’ general physical condition, such as pulse, temperature, blood pressure and respiration. Notifies Charge Nurse or appropriate staff of abnormal values.
• Facilitates patient education and activity groups
• Assists the patient with ADLs and personal needs (i.e., management of clothing and property; grooming).
• Uses approved verbal and physical de-escalation techniques.
• Escorts patients to meals, breaks and other activities.
• Promotes a therapeutic environment.
• Performs other duties as assigned/required by this position.

Qualifications

Requirements

• High School Diploma or equivalent and three to five years’ experience working with children or adolescents required, or A.A. degree and one year experience. Bachelor’s Degree preferred.
• Previous psych experience preferred.
• Current CPR Certification (training provided).
• Detail oriented and ability to successfully multitask in a fast-paced environment.
• Strong communication skills.
• Excellent customer service and organization skills.
• Highly effective listening skills.
