Rutgers University Behavioral Health Care (UBHC) invites applications for a per diem Mental Health Specialist III in the Addiction Services Department. The role centers on maintaining a safe therapeutic milieu, supporting an interdisciplinary team, and participating in group and treatment activities.

The position requires direct care, adherence to service plans, documentation, and occasional transport of clients to activities.

Qualifications

• Three (3) years of relevant full-time paid experience in the mental health field or one (1) year of full-time paid experience (part time and/or per diem experience may be substituted for the full-time equivalent) along with at least two (2) years of college majoring in a relevant mental health, social, or human services field, including twenty-four (24) verified credits in a relevant mental health, social or human services field, such as psychology, social work, or counseling or three (3) years of college majoring in a relevant mental health, social, or human services field, including thirty-six (36) verified credits in a relevant mental health, social or human services field, such as psychology, social work, or counseling.

Responsibilities

• Provides direct care responsibilities for consumers/patients as assigned.
• Engages consumer/patient in appropriate treatment intervention based on service plan and supervisory directions.
• Interacts and communicates with consumer/patient in therapeutic manner.
• Assists with consumer admission, transfer, and discharge procedures.
• Consistently demonstrates session/group facilitation management skills.
• Maintains appropriate consumer/patient records as mandated by University Behavioral Health Care policy and applicable accrediting organization standards.
• Responsible for transporting individuals served to treatment related activities.
