Job summary

Rutgers University Behavioral Health Care (UBHC) seeks a Supervising Mental Health Specialist for Addiction Services within Rutgers University Behavioral Health Care. The role involves leading a treatment team, providing patient care, training, and supervision to assigned staff in adolescent and/or child services.

Key duties include supervising staff, interacting therapeutically with patients, observing and treating cases, and ensuring policy compliance.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in a relevant mental health, social, or human services field plus one year of full time related experience (part-time/per diem may be substituted). Equivalent education, experience, and/or training may be substituted for the degree requirement.
• Applicants possessing a degree in Social Work must have an active New Jersey certification/licensure as required by the State Board of Social Work.
• Valid Driver’s license.

Responsibilities

• Provides administrative supervision to Mental Health Specialists and assigned staff.
• Interacts with patients in a therapeutic manner according to their developmental level.
• Participates in the observation and treatment of patients.
• Maintains knowledge of policies and procedures.
• Maintains cooperative working relationship with others and assumes appropriate leadership functions.
